Situation:  You’ve started the End of Day process in SMARTSystem.  You receive an error message that you are Unable to export End of Day data until errors are corrected.  Then you’ll see the name(s) of effected inventory items.

What this means:  The inventory items you see in the list are missing their G/L account information.

Solution:

  1. Make a note of the impacted inventory item(s).
  2. Click OK on the message box
  3. Stop the EOD export by clicking Exit.
  4. Open Inventory View (Inventory > Inventory View)
  5. Search for the product code of the first item on the list you made.
  6. Open the item’s detail record by double-clicking on it.
  7. Click on the Accounting Info tab.
  8. You will see that there are no G/L accounts listed for that item.  Assign it the proper accounts.
  9. Click on Modify to save your changes.
  10. Once all inventory items are corrected, run your End of Day again.  It will proceed without any more errors.

SMARTSite Error: Server error in ‘/’ application – Illegal characters in path

Problem:

My website seems to be experiencing issues right now.  After logging in as a user and clicking on the product link we are seeing:

Server error in ‘/’ application

Illegal characters in path.

Solution:

This problem is caused by a product code with an illegal special character in it.

Illegal special characters are:

\   /   :   *   ?   ”   <   >   |

Example:

The product code 6″MINI has a quantity available for sale online of 5.

The addition of an “illegal character,” in this case the “quote” symbol, will cause the server error.  If the quantity is changed to 0 the site will appear normally.

Avoid using special characters in product codes.  Product codes are used as file names on the website.  Special characters can cause the Server Error problem on the site.

To fully resolve the problem, inactivate the problem inventory item and create a new item that does not contain any illegal characters.  In the example given, this product code – 6″MINI – could be re-created as this – 6INCHMINI.
